Here's what you can do now.

- Get the facts: There's a lot of misinformation out there. We can help, starting with the full community assessment for details on why Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency is far and away the preferred choice for water provider. That community assessment will go a long ways towards allowing you to separate fact from fiction.
- Sign the online petition or print out and sign the paper petition (PDF file) to have the Local Agency Formation Commission of San Bernardino County (LAFCO) approve the application that Bighorn Desert View Water Agency (BDVWA) sent to LAFCO on April 28, 2014 to take over as water provider in place of San Bernardino County Special Districts (SDD) (also see below).
BDVWA responded to the petition we sent to them by completing and sending in their application to LAFCO on April 28, 2014. BDVWA had received about 100 signed and online petitions from our community. However, for reference purposes, the petition to BDVWA is still available for review (online) (paper). Before sending in that application to LAFCO, BDVWA also sent an outreach newsletter to all CSA70W-1 customers. Again, that outreach newsletter remains available for review.
- However, the CSA70W-1 community still needs to continue to show support for BDVWA to take the place of SDD. Currently that means having as many CSA70W-1 ratepayers as possible show up at the regular monthly BDVWA board meetings from this point on to show their support. BDVWA board meetings are videotaped. The continued presence of many CSA70W-1 ratepayers at BDVWA meetings will be one additional item that BDVWA can show LAFCO that our community is paying attention and wants BDVWA to replace SDD. BDVWA regular monthly board meetings are always the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 P.M. at the BDVWA Boardroom located at 1720 N. Cherokee Trail in Landers. The next upcoming BDVWA board meeting is on June 24, 2014. Be sure to tell all of your friends and neighbors about these upcoming meetings.
- Further along the process whereby BDVWA replaces SDD as our water provider, the Local Agency Formation Commission of San Bernardino County (LAFCO) gets involved. LAFCO will start its involvement by deciding whether they want to be an impediment to, or be of assistance to BDVWA. When LAFCO makes that determination, we need to have as many CSA70W-1 ratepayers present at that LAFCO meeting to tell LAFCO that we want them to be of assistance to BDVWA. Then, some time beyond that, LAFCO will send out a notice of their own to all property owners and registered voters in CSA70W-1. We do not want to respond to that LAFCO notice.
- Get as many CSA70W-1 ratepayers to this website as possible so that they can see the options they have, other than being fleeced by San Bernardino County Special Districts.
- Tell your neighbors about this effort to change water providers.
- Request copies of our paper flyer and help us distribute them. There are many ratepayers in CSA70W-1 that don't access the internet on a regular basis.
- Contact us to stay informed, receive notice of community meetings, and other actions.
